What a lot of notes we are singing this time. I have been practicing aka sing-along-a-Choraline in the car – remains to be seen if it will improve my watching skills in rehearsals! Not that I am getting competitive but I do want to prize that gold star for watching away from Lizzie!
Just to remind you that next week – the rehearsal on Tuesday because of the bank holiday.
Rehearsal dates for May
Tues 5th May
Mon 11th May
Mon 18th May
There is no rehearsal on BH Monday 25th May
The rehearsal plan for next week is
Rossini: Kyrie; Gloria and Et resurrexit
Mascagni Easter hymn
Walton Belshazzar’ Feast
Library copies of Walton’s Belshazar’s Feast are arriving next Tuesday. If you have your own copies, please bring them to all rehearsals. The recommended version is the Oxford University Press edition edited by Stuart Bedford. Editor’s note – steel yourselves girls and boys I have it on good authority from Jane Steer who studied this at A-Level that it is challenging. El Maestro has upped the degree of difficulty again – socks to that we say!
Summer concert poster – please advertise
I have attached the poster for the summer concert, please promote to the good people of Stroud and beyond. Wouldn’t it be great to have a full house to hear those tricky twiddly bits we have been rehearsing so diligently.
Tea for two concert reminder – concert 9th May in aid of Minpins (Sat eve 9th and Sun afternoon 10th May)
Just to remind you, the tea for two concert is in aid of Minpins (Sunday 11th May at 3:30pm) so it would be great to support this one if you can only attend one. Tickets are £10 and you can buy them from Zoe on Tuesday – or if you cannot make Tuesday – e-mail Zoe and she can arrange for tickets to be left at the door: firstname.lastname@example.org
SCS Summer Workshop reminder: Saturday 11th July 2015, 10am – 4pm, Marling School Music Hall
If you have not already signed up – don’t forget the Belshazzar Workshop led by our very own Huw Williams. If you have not done one of the workshops before, they are great fun and really give you a head start prepping for the Autumn rehearsal. Similarly – if you know someone who might like to join – this would be a great introduction and opportunity to try us out. For more info go to our website: http://stroudchoral.org/; or contact Veronica Pride at: email@example.com or Susie Williams at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Post rehearsal cool down (following the musical vocal workout)
Come to the pub – you will need that drink! Directions to the Old Crown, Ruscombe Road (next to Archway school). Turn right out of Marling or Beards Lane onto Caincross. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit past the fire station and follow up to the mini-roundabout. Take the first exit and then immediately take the first left into Ruscombe Road – also signposted to Archway school. The Pub is on the right – however take a right as if going into the school and immediate left into the car park.
Have a lovely bank holiday weekend and don’t forget to sing-a-long-a-Rossini in your spare moments!
