For those on holiday – hope you are having a lovely time. For those like me at work – commiserations!
Firstly – a reminder about the rehearsal schedule for Monday 13th April:
Rossini – Petite Messe Solennelle
Et vitam venturi
O salutaris – from European Sacred Music
VERY IMPORTANT – SCORES
Kim asked me to pass on this message: There are still several Faure Requiem scores missing – you know who you are! Please bring them on 13th April, with your markings erased. There are plenty of copies of the Rossini – Petite Messe Solennelle for those of you who did not manage to pick one up or missed the last rehearsal.
SCS CAPTION COMPETITION
Stephen Bryden sent the attached photo with the suggestion that we have a caption competition – fabulous idea Stephen! Also thanks to Zoe for spotting it too at the Chalford Scarecrow Trail. I hereby nominate our very own acting chair, Molly as judge (I may interfere and help and am convinced Huw will have an opinion too). Please send captions to me so that I can collate them. The prize will be the SCS Wit of the Year award for services to humour.
OXFORD CHORAL CLASSICS: OPERA CHORUSES
Quick reminder that you will need this book. Oxford Choral Classics: Opera Choruses edited by John Rutter. Music Dynamics in Stroud have copies and Huw assures me that we will get our money’s worth because we will be performing other works from the book.
EVENT OF THE YEAR – COME LEARN FROM THE MAESTRO (HUW) – BELSHAZZER WORKSHOP
Veronica and Susie are helping to organise this year’s workshop which is fast becoming an annual SCS event. This year it is on the 11th July at Marling School Music Hall and Huw will be coaching us through Walton’s Belshazzer’s Feast. We are performing this in November so a good opportunity to get some early practice (I gather we will need it!!). I have attached both a word and pdf version of the form (so don’t worry if you cannot open the word version). All welcome including non-members. Please return to Veronica or Susie with payment.
POST REHEARSAL PARTY EVERY MONDAY!
Still no grumpy old men. If we are not careful they will return!! Do join us after rehearsals. DIRECTIONS TO THE OLD CROWN, RUSCOMBE ROAD (next to Archway school). Turn right out of Marling or Beards Lane onto Caincross. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit past the fire station and follow up to the mini-roundabout. Take the first exit and then immediately take the first left into Ruscombe Road – also signposted to Archway school. The Pub is on the right – however take a right as if going into the school and immediate left into the car park.
HAYDN CONCERT PHOTOS
My husband sends apologies to those who tried to download photos and found themselves having to pay – he has switched off the pay (left on by accident honest). Here is the link again: http://www.thelemonhouse.co.uk/scsgloucester type in the Password: 20130307 (if needed).
